Lady Ho Tung goes to Thailand

Back from a week-long trip to Thailand. One night in Bangkok--just long enough to realize how hot it is there, and that I much prefer the beach--then headed to Koh Chang for the remainder of my time...it was gorgeous. Dreamy and relaxing, not yet overdeveloped. Rented a scooter for a couple of days, snorkeled, was amazed by my insatiable appetite for pad thai.

Street vendors in Bangkok. I ate lots and lots of pad thai. You can buy it direct off the street and it is Y.U.M. In fact, every dish I ate in Thailand was delicious.

Do it like a local. I swear, this lady copied me...
Bus ride from Bangkok to Koh Chang--5.5 hours, yeah right. More like an hour in a cab to get to the bus station, wait around for an hour, 6 hours on the bus, then wait some more, then 45 minutes on ferry to the island, then crammed into the back of a bouncing, shock-less pick-up for another 45 before arriving at a thatched-roof hut with nothing to say for itself except ants on the bed (seriously, not even any toilet paper).
Thai people really love their king, which is why we bought these shirts. They are a symbol of love for the king because yellow is the royal colour, and you wear them on Monday because the King was born on a Monday. They say "I love the King" on the back.
Nasty traffic in Bangkok.
Beautiful Lonely Beach.
